what a strange turn of events

punk rock is no longer punk rock because it no longer requires a struggle against conformity.
the music is no longer shunned- the attitude and rebellion is commonplace for today's youth- and the so-called look is now so ingratiated into our culture that nothing is shocking anymore.
punk is still there- but its been added to the wallpaper surrounding the norm.
the music still matters- but more in reference to the original effect that it had in the past.
these days, it's merely nostalgia. or tribute. or imitation of a stripped down music brought to its simplest terms and filled with raw energy.
where's the authenticity? :(

whats new is old.

ok so i'm catholic, right?
so when i hear persons make fun of scientology and how "crazy" it sounds-
i quietly think to myself "well my religion kind of sounds ridiculous and madeup, too"
the difference for me is basically that i feel this weird inexplicable pull to the catholic church.
god knows (lol) that it wasnt my childhood that instilled this in me- considering my mom left the church while i was young- i think it has more to do with my own insistence in seeing my grandmother, hunter, and brandon again in the afterlife. even now, it sounds so retarded to have faith in something out of fear and to gain the opportunity to rejoin those that have left.
hopefully im not the only christian that laughs at my own religion.
i totally still think scientology is a crock- considering its the worlds' only for-profit religion.

why cant i think of stuff like this?
recycled plastic bags cut into strips and crocheted- and VOILA!- awesome bag.
...or koozie?! here is the link: cristencrochet
ive been coming across nice patterns and some jawdropping inspiration for crochet but the spark to create hasnt returned just yet.
all my energy is spent embroidering so far-
it's like a coloring book- but i am coloring in the lines with thread and needle and waning patience.
its quite gratifying though- and in more of a visual sense than in the strictly practical and tactile sense.

-filter- "take a picture"
-amy winehouse- "back to black", "wake up alone"
